Bikes, Scooters, Bikes, and the Streets of Guilin
The streets of Guilin are busy with people, bikes, and scooters. Electric scooters most specifically. These things sell for as little as $300 to $500. The government actually encourages residents to purchase and use these for their daily transport. Every corner, every straight, and back alley, you will find an abundance of these. And, as you walk your way, making an effort to avoid being runover by one of these, you realize, on the streets, you are equals. And this is true, as these vehicles are treated as pedestrians and require no license to operate.

DIRT BIKE PAINT JOBS. BICYCLE TIRE ACCESSORIES.
Dirt Bike Paint Jobs
- The decorative or finishing application of paint to an object
- A cosmetic treatment that does not address underlying problems
- (Paint job) A pro's putt that Zips out. The holes in professional tournaments are painted white to make it easier for TV viewers to see their location, and sometimes the paint around the hole's edge becomes crusty and makes the lip less accommodating to putts. At least that's what the pros say.
- A motorcycle designed for use on rough terrain, such as unsurfaced roads or tracks, and used esp. in scrambling
- trail bike: a lightweight motorcycle equipped with rugged tires and suspension; an off-road motorcycle designed for riding cross country or over unpaved ground
- There are many systems for classifying types of motorcycles, describing how the motorcycles are put to use, or the designer's intent, or some combination of the two. Six main categories are widely recognized: cruiser, sport, touring, standard, dual-purpose, and dirt bike.
- n. an off-road motorcycle. Usually louder than MTBs.
Paint Your Career Green: Get a Green Job Without Starting Over
Paint Your Career Green is the only book that offers practical advice on how readers can transition rapidly to green careers. It specifically reveals how readers can take advantage of green social networking sites as well as identify the minimal number of green courses necessary to validate themselves. The book provides practical advice on how to manage finances while going through the career changing process and provides a roadmap for people who want to avoid starting over or taking a severe salary cut when they change careers and become part of a growing green industry.
As found in a garden! I think someone might have decorated it for christmas looking at the paint job though :S. The mudguards and chain guard have been sloppily hand-painted.
The saddle is ruined and cracked so that will have to go I think.
Apart from that everything seems to work OK. The chain is very stiff due to the dirt and grease which is preventing the drivetrain from being efficient but that's easily solvable.
I was hoping when I got the bike that the wheels would be 26 3/8" as this is the standard roadster size but unfortunately they're the same size as the Norman - 26 1/4"! This is a bit of a pain as these rims are pretty much impossible to find. At least they're in better condition than the Norman though. They're actually Sturmey Archer made.
The bike must have been re-painted at some time in its life as the original paint is still underneath. It's a navy blue and the headtube is sky blue. Apparently this was the standard common colour for Triumphs and to find one in any other colour is quite a rarity.
Three Easy Steps(5225)
Here, laid out in all its glory, is the patented Hutchinson 3-step easy clean-up process. Of course, the first step is some good water and Simple Green solution to get the worst of the grime off. But then, the 3 step process begins. See above notes.

One of the nicest, coolest, most approachable Saskie boys you'll ever meet. I interviewed him for about 30 minutes, and by the end of it, I felt like we were just chatting around. But the guy's been around racing all his life, and let me tell you, from his relaxed but straightforward interview style, it shows. Check out this quote:
"The Blackfoot Direct team is fully professioal, just like any of the pro teams I've seen in the U.S. A lot of people think we don't have fun, but this is the perfect team for me because my idea of fun is winning, and this is the team that lets me do that."
I'm telling you, with those media management skills, Blair is two wheels short of a berth with NASCAR. :-)
Bio - Blair Morgan
Whatever the sport, every championship team has an experienced, character guy that contributes as much in the locker room as he does when it's game time. For Blackfootdirect Team Toyota Yamaha, that guy is Blair Morgan. The team relies on him not just to race hard and win on the track, but when the race is over and the mechanics go to work, Morgan is expected to contribute off the track as well. More than any other rider, the team's younger members look to Morgan as their mentor.
"Maybe I'll go over the race with them, keep them focused," Morgan says. Often, he'll offer a little guidance or share an observation that he hopes will make the other riders better.
"They like to goof off, especially Colton [Facciotti] with the girls," Morgan says with a laugh. "I'm there to keep everyone focused. They know a lot. They're good riders. But maybe I'll help interpret what the bike is doing, maybe talk about the track, offer a different line, or maybe I'll just say hey, relax, go out there and ride. Give them a little confidence boost out there."
With his YZ450F wearing the #3 plate, however, Blackfootdirect knows that, even at 31 years old, Blair Morgan is still able to win races and compete hard. He's still training, staying fit, and he's healthy this year. In 2003, Morgan broke his back and leg in practice. He's now fully recovered, though a titanium rod still runs from his right knee to his ankle.
"Riders do that," Morgan says. "They break something, that's the way it is."
For Morgan, enjoying life means racing year-round. Morgan switches sports the way most people change TV channels. In the winter, he trades in his two wheels for tracks, racing as a rider/owner of the official Team Ski-Doo snow-cross team. Morgan even has his own Sony Playstation PS2 game, "Sno-cross 2: Featuring Blair Morgan." Spring comes abruptly: Morgan's last snowcross race was at the end of March. It's now early April, and Morgan has traded everything in again, tracks for his Yamaha YZ450F. Time off? One week.
"Yeah, not much of a break," Morgan laughs. "Relaxed for a week, then drove to Calgary, picked up my bikes, and now I'm here."
Watching Morgan talk about racing, however, he doesn't look burned out or over-worked. "I don't consider this work," Morgan confesses with a smile. Once on his Yamaha, however, Morgan never forgets what channel he's on. This is two wheels now, and he's here to race.
Morgan won the championship in 1999. And though he's proved a lot, Morgan says, he's still shooting for top three every weekend.
"The Blackfoot Direct team is fully professional, just like any of the pro teams I've seen in the U.S.," Morgan says. "A lot of people think we don't have fun, but this is the perfect team for me because my idea of fun is winning, and this is the team that lets me do that."
So, yesterday my pimp new ride came to town, after waiting for weeks for ye olde Transition BottleRocket frame to arrive at my awesome place of employment. I, of course, was beyond stoked to have such a shiny new steed in the stable ready to be saddled up to pony on down the trails on.
The infamous Chris Woollard pressed in my headset and otherwise prepared the frame for me, while Victor Kang (aka El Diablo) gave me a Fox 500# x 2.35 spring from one of his TWO extra shocks laying around :D
Then, after hitting up downtown for some delightful Taco/LFC/Gastown Sprints (which I did hilariously terrible at), I came home and was up until roughly 2AM putting the finishing touches on her so that she'd be ready for today's ride.
There are still a few tweaks I need to do (like file down part of the plastic on the chainguide, and trim off another 20ish mm of handlebar per side), but otherwise I am lovin' it! We had her first inaugeral ride down Ned's today after work, and by the bottom of the trail, I was already feeling super good on the bike.
Interesting Fact - during this year of the bike, I've owned: Santa Cruz Blur 4X, Santa Cruz Nomad (version 2), Transition Bottlerocket, and through it all, .243 Racing 4130 hardtail.
